Midland Vets performed well at Burnham Beeches in the English Senior Women's Stroke Play.
Sue Spencer led the field for 2 days with steady golf and finished in 4th place. Hertfordshire’s Jackie Foster came from four shots back to win the championship on a wet day. She returned a closing 77 to finish on 10-over, winning by two shots from Aileen Greenfield of Sussex, who was also last year’s runner-up, and Cheshire’s Cath Rawthore, the English senior women’s amateur champion.
There were several rain delays and generally the weather provided difficult conditions for all the players. The organisers did a fantastic job in getting all the players round in time to watch the England match.
Several Midland Vets made the cut and an early start helped the field get round before the predicted thunder storms. The other Midland Vets making the cut were Helen Lowe and Lindsey Shaw tied 7th, Julie Brown tied 16th, Caron Harrison tied 29th and Andrea Stockdale 45th.
