It is with a heavy heart that we have to honour someone who meant so much to all of us.
Our President, our mentor, our friend, Cindy Ireland.
Some of us have had the privilege of playing in the team that Cindy captained. She led with grace and a few glasses of wine.
But, more importantly, she will be remembered for friendship, love, and respect.
Her humour and kindness will live on with all of us.
On Thursday 22nd May 2025, 68 ladies played in the MSWGA Championships at Shifnal Golf Club, Shropshire. The day was tinged with sadness following the death of our wonderful President, Cindy Ireland after her long and courageous fight against cancer.
The fast running fairways and slick greens led to difficult scoring conditions at the first event of the year. Julie Brown (Trentham), MSWGA Captain led the scratch event for most of the day after her early start but was pipped on countback by Sarah Cranton (Stourbridge) with 76 to win the Dorothy Cooke Salver. Home player Ros Moor won the Madeleine Fyshe Trophy for the Best Gross over 65’s and Gillian Curley won the President’s Plate.
