What a fantastic turn out from the Midland Vets in Vilamoura, to play in the Portuguese Seniors, from 27 - 29th January 2016. Over 20 in total and we were treated to some fairly good weather; shorts in January can’t be bad. There had been a lot of bad weather before our arrival, so the courses were playing particularly long. We all played the betterball on the Victoria Course and the stroke play on the Old Course.

Day1 Stroke and things were looking good for the Midland Vets, with Lindsey Shaw of Derbyshire taking the lead with a fantastic 76. Close behind was Sue Spencer, Staffs, with another good score of 79. Play had started at 7.30am; it was still dark with a very heavy dew and quite cold; not the best conditions for shooting low scores.

Day 2 had similar conditions and the leaders found scoring difficult, as did many others. Gill Snelson posted the best score of the Midland Vets with an 80. Lots of wine, sangria, lots of fun and good company!
